MPA hiring for new “Deep Canvass” program to engage Mainers in conversations about immigration
The mission of Maine People’s Alliance is to create a world where everyone has what they need, contributes what they can, and no one is left behind. By forming community with people from all walks of life, MPA is working to build progressive power, inspire new leaders, heal divisions—particularly across lines of race—and win campaigns that change what is politically possible.
Special interests and some politicians use race and xenophobia to divide Mainers and advance their agenda for an economy that is rigged for the wealthy few. But we know most Mainers understand the value of diverse communities, and that authentic conversations with neighbors about the rights and contributions of immigrants in Maine can help broaden support for a Maine that works for everyone—regardless of where they come from or what language they speak.
This April, MPA is embarking on a deep canvass project, connecting with Mainers in Androscoggin County around the issue of immigration. If you are passionate about immigrant rights and have excellent communication skills, a positive attitude, and a passion for learning, then we want you!

MPA is an equal opportunity employer and we are committed to equity and inclusion. Core to our work is an understanding of the multiple ways in which society is constructed to disadvantage and marginalize people of color, LGBTQ people, immigrants, native peoples, women, low-income people, people with disabilities, and others. We believe that underrepresented and marginalized communities must be centered in the work we do and we strongly encourage applications from people with these identities or from these communities.
